All weddings in 2020 had their obstacles to overcome, but an outdoor venue was the best place to have a wedding. Located in God’s country of Arcadia, Indiana is this great outdoor venue called Maple Lane Pavilion. The property has 10 acres with several barns, an outdoor ceremony space, and a covered pavilion for ceremony and/or reception space. It is only open during the warmer months of May through October. Miranda and Derek happen to book the last October date of the season at Maple Lane Pavilion and it was a perfect ending to wedding season for me as well.
When I photographed Derek and Miranda’s engagement session, I got to meet their sweet boy Grayson. He has the cutest red curly hair and big brown eyes. He reminded me so much of my Gavin when he was that age. Grayson was such a special part of Miranda and Derek’s wedding – I love that they included him as much as possible for his age. Miranda also had several flower girls that were just adorable in their little tutu skirts. Oh, did I mention how perfect the weather was? You couldn’t have asked for a better fall day in Indiana.
The first look was so fun to photograph by the red silo. There are so many options on the grounds for a first look, but this red silo just stuck out to me. Miranda looked just stunning. Her long hair was blowing in the breeze as Derek’s eyes lit up seeing her for the first time. It was such a sweet moment. Then they had Grayson join them! He gave mommy such a big hug. I may have had a tear in my eye at the moment. Derek took him over to see the huge corn stalks which made Grayson smile. He really is the center of their world and it is just the best sweetest thing to watch.
Miranda and Derek chose to have their ceremony outside with rose petals and lanterns lining the isle. All of their family and friends were there to see this joyous occasion. After the ceremony we all went into the covered pavilion for the reception where there was lots of laughter and dancing. I loved how Miranda and Derek included the outside too where there was a bonfire for staying warm and making delicious s’mores! Everyone had such a good time. We ended the night with a magical sparkler exit.
